Shoebox Christmas

Ma-Maw (Judy, Kyle's mom) had the wonderful idea to take Karys shopping to put together a shoebox full of goodies for a child in need.  Kyle and I are so mindful that we, as parents, are responsible for giving our children everything they need and yet must not give them TOO much.  This topic has been and (I'm sure) will continue to be one of the things we discuss and strategize about the most in our late-night pow-wows.  So we really liked the idea of Karys shopping for and giving away items she herself would love to have.  And I'm pretty sure Karys LOVED the fact that Ma-Maw let her use real (really sharp!) scissors while wrapping the box.  Mean ole' Mom keeps those locked away (I try, anyway.  Jack is on a mission to crack all child-locks in this house).  Anyhoo, I digress.  Look at her happy little face!  She's sleeping now as I write this, but it makes me want to go squeeze her and tell her how proud I am of her for finding such happiness in giving.  That's a hard concept for a four-year-old--but she gets it! She was so, so proud of that little shoebox full of goodies.  We hope it made someone's day just a little bit brighter :)
